Nova Productions outlined its international intentions for its latest product, PokerKard Texas Hold 'Em, when it officially launched the game in London earlier this month and then took on former Namco boss Kevin Hayes to spearhead sales in the US and Canada.

A one to four-player video game featuring Texas Hold ‘Em poker, the aim is for players to participate purely for the social interaction of the game. Wins are stored as points alongside the player’s identity and star rating on a card that is unique to each customer.

The machine also has download and auditing capabilities using GRPS which, according to Nova Productions, is a big step forward in machine operation as faults and servicing can be carried out over a mobile network.
Company director David Jones said: “Each European country would have its own master server which connected all the machines to the one exclusive distributor/manufacturer.

“The GRPS service ensures that machines made for the Spanish market cannot be shipped to, say, Germany, or any other country as they will not function and this provides total exclusivity for a particular country.” PokerKard will be on show at IAAPA, held in Orlando, Florida, next month and there are plans to roll the product out in the US and Canada, through a partner, in early 2009.
