Namco of Japan is to restructure its European business from January 1, 2007.
Namco Europe will become Namco Holdings UK and will operate as a holding company.
The coin machine distribution business and the mobile telephone and web content business will be taken into new companies, trading as Namco Europe and Namco Bandai Networks Europe.
John McKenzie, currently sales and commercial director at Namco Europe, will become managing director of the newly-formed Namco Europe with Masaji Okubo managing director of Namco Bandai Networks Europe.
Mike Nevin will continue as managing director of Namco Operations Europe and also Namco Holdings UK. Ray Bradley will be group finance director.
Brent Sales, the coin machine distribution business for the UK and Ireland, and Brent Electronic, which distributes spare parts, will continue to operate within the remit of the newly-constituted Namco Europe.
Mike Nevin commented: “Due to the growth in the UK business it was time that each operation had a dedicated managing director to take that business forward to the next level.” He said that splitting the business units was also driven by the need to align each business with company structural developments in Japan.
The amusement centres company, Namco Operations Europe, is not affected by the changes.
