The seaward end of Lowestoft’s Claremont Pier in the UK is now open for the public to promenade, following the reinstatement of a long section of the decking after an investment of £160,000.

Public donations accounted for much of the investment, with more from owners Edward and Charmaine Mayne and their family, who had set a target of getting the pier section reopened for Easter.
The structure is over 120 years old and stands on the town’s South Beach. It was taken over by the current owners in 2020 and they put into place the fund-raising efforts that included a "sponsor a board" plan for the decking.
