Police in Miami, US, continued their fight against 'illegal' coin-op video gaming machines this week when they removed nine machines from locations and made three arrests.
Three shops were raided earlier in the week, continuing the round-up of what the police claim are illegal video gaming machines. Three people were arrested on charges ranging from operating a gambling house to possession of illegal coin-op devices.
The police also confiscated $315.25, most of which came from an arcade-like machine with no computer components - a move that escalates the argument over whether police are only seizing games of chance.
The Tuesday raid was the latest in a series of seizures that began in October 2010 when Miami officers confiscated more than 400 video gaming devices throughout the city in a raid they dubbed "Operation Lucky 7."
Those seizures intensified a feud between Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and police chief Miguel Exposito. Exposito claimed Regalado tried to interfere and stop the October raid and informed federal law enforcement. The mayor said Exposito’s claim was false.
