Exhibitors at the giant IAAPA trade show in Orlando, Florida, which opened on Tuesday and completes its four-day run today, were convinced that they were witnessing a slow, but definite resurgence in the amusement industry.
Many reported that the extra effort that suppliers had made to ensure innovation in new product was paying off with American operators opening their wallets.
The projected 25,000 visitors to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando may not have been achieved. On the first two days, numbers appeared to be down to observers, but there was no shortage of optimism. Visitors were evident from all parts of the world, underlining the show’s appeal to a very wide operating audience.
It is the first year that the autumn AMOA event has been dropped by the coin machine industry in favour of IAAPA. AMOA is now a joint spring event with the ASI show, which goes to Las Vegas in March, 2011.
