Darts' expansion continues Darts' expansion continues

Electronic darts has been around for decades now and yet, largely because of the internet and tournament play, it continues to expand.

There are parts of the world where the game has never really caught on, such as the UK where the traditional dart game dominates, but most of the world has created a demand.

Arachnid of the US was the originator of the very first electronic dart board in 1977 in Rockford, Illinois.  Since then the company has manufactured over 120,000 dart games and continues to grow with the new Galaxy 3 Live, Arachnid’s 10th generation dart game. Arachnid’s major developments have been developing communications between locations and running dart leagues within one operation and now remote dart leagues between different states and/or countries.

The Galaxy 3 Live is the current electronic dart game being produced today. The Galaxy 3 ties in with all of the Galaxy I and Galaxy II games on location for communications. Approximately 57,000 Arachnid electronic dart games are communicating on the company’s Dartman and League Leader software. The Galaxy 3 features two colour cameras, a target that flips from a 15ins target to a 13ins target, 19ins flat screen monitor, tri-colour LED lighting, remote and co-op operator leagues, remote play, ranked play, instant stats, world ranking list and the BullShooter Live website.

“The technology of internet play between players and teams has advanced electronic darts to the most popular and successful game in locations today,” Arachnid’s Jeanne Garigliano told InterGame. “The US market is a tremendous market for electronic darts with promotionally minded operators with approximately 100,000 dart machines in the US. The next region where electronic darts has blossomed over the last 15 years would be Europe with Germany, Spain, France and Portugal all on board with communicating electronic darts.”
