On the weekend of June 21-22, the Golden 8 Ball 2014 event in Blackpool, UK, featured 34 new tables covered in Hainsworth Precision cloth. The tournament is a major event on the sporting calendar for 100 pool teams from throughout the UK and sees an intense knockout competition to win over £8,000 in prize money.

The choice of cloth is vital for a pool competition to ensure table speed is as high as possible to enable consistency of play. Many tournaments worldwide feature either the Hainsworth Precision range or its more durable cousin the Hainsworth Match range. These include the European Blackball tournament and the England Counties Finals.

Hainsworth has been manufacturing fine precision fabrics in the UK since 1783. The speed of the cloth comes from the quality of wool and the length of the ‘nap’, or felt pile. The unique qualities of the soft water at the factory in Stanningley, West Yorkshire, combined with unique brushing and trimming techniques, result in high levels of performance. Each batch of cloth is tested to ensure consistency of speed and durability so that the best playing conditions are maintained.
