June 2 will see a gathering of over 1,500 people from the German and international coin machine industry to celebrate an extraordinary event: the Gauselmann Group will be marking its 50th anniversary.
It was in June, 1957, that a young Paul Gauselmann began operating his first machines. Since then he has built an empire in games and gaming, manufacturing, distribution and operating, created a business with a turnover which last year broke the €1bn mark in turnover and received awards from both the German federal government and local authorities for his work in the community.
His group employs 5,500 people worldwide and for the wider German industry, Gauselmann led the business through some of its rockiest times to the pinnacle of success in forging a new gambling regulation which came into effect last year and which has all the hallmarks of making Germany the leading European nation in the AWP business.
The background to the remarkable story of the ‘kid from the wrong side of the tracks’ who built an empire, can be found in an InterGame Special Issue, which will be published with our June edition.
