Merlin Entertainment’s Chessington World of Adventures in the UK is to have a new "land" added, following the granting of planning permission by Kingston Council.

A roller coaster and a number of family-orientated attractions will be built into a new area of the park to replace Wild Asia, which has been closed for redeveloping, although the Kobra ride (pictured) will be re-themed and remains.

Both indoor and outdoor sections of the new land will have a roller coaster, themed play areas, and sensory environments, plus new catering outlets.

The theme of the new land has not yet been released. Work will begin this year and the new area will open for 2027. It is part of Merlin’s longer-term plans to make the Chessington venue into a year-round destination.
