What started as a quiet exhibition with most people either frantically adding finishing touches to their stand or casually milling about on the first day - ended as a busy and enthusiastic show with international and domestic visitors aplenty.

With legislation changes across the 17 jurisdictions imminent, manufacturers for the casino market seemed positive that new opportunities are on the horizon.

The major Spanish companies including R Franco, Unidesa and MGA, had a strong presence and as expected had busy stands throughout the show.

And with Austrian gaming company Novomatic and German company Hess Gaming both exhibiting for the first time, it would appear the Spanish market is an attractive one for foreign companies as well.

David Orrick of Novomatic told InterGame: “Our multi-roulette machine has performed very well since it was put into Casino Barcelona and we are currently in the process of gaining approval for a number of other games.

“The new legislations will bring the need for casinos to rejuvenate the gaming floor and introduce new products.”

Hess Cash Systems exhibited with its sister company GeWeTe and introduced Scorpion, the company’s latest cash handling system to the Spanish market.

Hess\’ Eric de Kat said: “The response has been positive. We have two major distributors that are willing to take Scorpion on board and there has been a great amount of interest from visitors so far.”
