The GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2008 opened its doors at the Taipei World Trade Centre yesterday (Thursday).
The show, the 15th in the series, had 125 exhibitors from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, Italy, the UK, Russia, the US and Canada, in addition to the Taiwanese companies which made up the bulk of the show. Exhibits ranged from kiddie rides through to casino slots.
Despite having no indigenous gambling industry in Taiwan, the country has demonstrated an ability to provide many products for the gaming sector in other countries and this tended to dominate the show.
However, it was also significant that the exhibition had many amusement video machines on display, a sector which in many other countries appears to have been in rapid decline in recent years.
A full report on the exhibition will appear in the June issue of InterGame.
