The changes promised by the DCMS consultation are welcomed by the industry but cannot come soon enough, according to Quentin Stott from Reflex Gaming.

"The announcement by DCMS to consult on some positive changes to the heavily restricted B3 machine genre will come as welcome news to the industry and players alike," he said in an interview with Coin-op Community. "Since the introduction of the 2005 Gambling Act, many of the manufacturers, distributors and retailers of this product genre have been running on empty, with players choosing to migrate to other gambling offers.

"There is now a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, but with a likely six-month timeframe before any changes can be implemented, there will no doubt be further business and employment casualties still. Having said that, we applaud the efforts of BACTA and the industry at large, for being able to refocus government thinking which has led to the start of this consultation process."
