A coin-operated Wi-Fi hotspot terminal that lets users pay for internet access by the minute, is the latest offering from FMN Communications, based in Germany.
FEC and leisure centre operators, among others, could see the benefits of the Alpha PayLan, as it can be defined and programmed by the operator and would offer customers an extra reason to stay in the locations.
Access to the terminal can take place via a notebook that is equipped for WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and the user pays in advance for the account-time by inserting coins.
The customer is given a voucher that contains information on the location, the amount paid, duration of access, and date and time, which is then valid for 24 hours until the first login of the user.
