As of September, the Gameland amusement arcade in Chicago, US, will close its doors for the final time and auction off its machines.

Following problems faced by many arcade owners, including the rise of the home console and an overwhelming lack of youth interest, the arcade has been forced to permanently close.

Diane Thompson, who manages Gameland, said: "Teenagers haven’t come in a long while. The people we get now come out looking to remember something from their past. They look around, they play a bit, then leave."
