Earlier this month saw the opening of a new Ferris wheel on Southsea's Clarence Pier in the UK, a newer version than the one that had been on the pier for some years.

Smaller than its forebear, the new wheel will still command views of the Solent, but at the same time is likely to attract less criticism - the old wheel apparently posed a risk to migrating birds, notably brent geese.

The pier had the previous wheel from 2016 through to 2020.
