The Spanish province of Andalucia is considering the approval of using bingo games in arcades and it is hoped that a decision will be made by spring 2011. If it is, then it is likely that the 900 arcades in Andalucia may install as many as five of the machines in each location.
Currently bingo games are only permitted in bingo halls where as many as 15 may be used. The current discussions would elevate to 18 the number of bingo games permitted in bingo halls.
Andalucia is by far the largest of the Spanish provinces in terms of arcades and is generally recognised as the most liberal of jurisdictions. The breakthrough for bingo games into arcades could be highly significant as it may encourage others of the 17 jurisdictions in Spain to follow suit.
