Warner Bros Entertainment's action cartoon Wacky Races is currently undergoing final software development stages for a new game in the UK, we understand.

The game will be licensed and developed by Gamewax, based in both London, UK, and Kobe, Japan, and arcade machine manufacturer Banpresto, based in Tokyo, Japan.

Sneak images of the development began circulating the internet last month, indicating it is already being tested at some locations in the UK.

Internet reports suggest first impressions are strong and the use of the family orientated licence suggests the developers are trying to generate new income by attracting new types of players.

The game is said to feature point-to-point racetracks and an individual power-up system using a new Big One, arm bandit lever mechanism.

Although the game is yet to be officially released, sources indicate the game may be ready for a European release as early as the ATEI show later in the month, with other markets to follow.

If true, it would be the first time Banpresto has launched a video product on a global scale.
