While the latest releases continue to push the limits of technology, classic games from yesteryear still hold their own, writes Thomas Dodds.

Arcade games as we know them have been around in one form or another for the better part of half a century, with some games from decades ago still able to hold their own on the arcade floor to this day. Iconic retro arcade games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Street Fighter, Asteroids and Space Invaders still hold their own against even the latest developments from across the industry.
While the classics hold serve against the new releases, it does create the question of why. Why do players love the retro games, despite the latest games attempts to make their way into the hearts of players.
