While gaming remains the dominant force in Italy, supplier Tecnoplay still believes amusement games have their place in the market and is continuing to push the pure amusement offering forward across the country.

As the exclusive supplier for Sega Amusements Europe, Taito, Konami and more recently Adrenaline Amusements, Tecnoplay has a 70 per cent share of the Italian amusement market and, as exclusive supplier for Stern Pinball, 100 per cent of the pinball market.

“We have seen many changes in the Italian market over the past 20 years,” said Tecnoplay’s Mauro Zaccaria. “From the golden days of the video game and pinball to the present age of AWPs and VLTs, every time the market has changed, we have changed and grown in experience and professionalism. We are looking to grow this market share even more, through collaborating with the brands we currently work with, such as our recent project with Sega, which has seen us design and produce the cabinet for the new Virtua Tennis 4 game.

“This latest title is going to be a great hit in the amusement market,” said Zaccaria. “When Sega showed us the game play possibilities, the fantastic graphics and then asked us to design and produce a cabinet that would be distributed throughout Europe and the US, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

“In the pinball sector, we are trying to improve the number of pinballs sold in directly through sponsoring the Italian team as they take part in the Pinball Worldwide Championship and other events.”

While Tecnoplay leads in the amusement sector, it also has a strong focus on the AWP sector and is working hard to grow its 20 per cent share of the market. “We pride ourselves on producing very high quality cabinets as in general market standards are increasing, especially with the introduction of VLTs. Customers now want strong, high quality visuals from their gaming machines as well as good game content and stylish cabinets.”
