Thailand’s casino and entertainment complex bill has been passed by the country’s cabinet with a couple of noteworthy developments.

As reported by the Bangkok Post, the bill retains the requirement for patrons to pay an entry fee of THB5,000 ($147) and to have THB50m (US$1.5m) in bank deposits.
Deputy finance minister Julapun Amornvivat said legislators were focused on just getting the bill moved forward and will work out amendments at a later stage, after reports said the cabinet was thinking of removing the requirement.
The bill also says that the casino area may only span up to 10 per cent of the total size of an entertainment complex.
The Thai government hopes to pull in a minimum of THB100bn ($) in casino complex investment and boost annual foreign arrivals by up to 10 per cent, the Bangkok Post reported.
The bill will now be sent to the House of Representatives. If it receives approval there, it will go to the Senate.
