The role has been newly created and is part of the Rank Group’s active investment programme across the city of London. It will involve maintaining the stature of the venue as well as promoting its heritage.

The venue spans three floors including its rooftop gaming terrace at its Edgware Road location.

Turpin has worked for Rank previously, joining in 1989 as an assistant manager and working his way through positions to operations director of the nightclub division. Before rejoining Rank this month, he was COO at Metropolitan Gaming, formerly Caesars Entertainment EMEA, and has also previously headed up Caesars’ top UK casino, The Empire Casino in London.

“We are excited to welcome Peter to The Vic. Peter brings with him experience spanning 30 years in the gaming and hospitality businesses,” said Debbie Husband, managing director at Grosvenor Casinos. “We have an ambitious programme to reinvigorate the Grosvenor Casinos estate and having exceptional leadership in our flagship property is critical.”

Turpin added: “After many years working with other brands within the sector, it is exciting to be returning to Rank at such an exciting time for the business.

“The Vic is a well-loved venue in London. As an avid poker player myself, it is held in high regard in the market for poker and offering a unique casino environment. I am looking forward to working with the team at Grosvenor to shape the next phase of The Vic’s history.”
