The recent roof-wetting of Sun International's latest project, the Monticello Grand Casino and Entertainment World near Chile's capital, Santiago, has brought the development one step closer to completion and confirmed that the project is on track for its soft opening in early October.

The 66,300sq.m complex, being developed at a cost of more than US$200m by Sun International - which will also operate the property - is believed to the largest single private investment ever in the Chilean leisure industry.

Situated about 57km south of Santiago, the development will boast 1,500 slot machines, 80 tables and 300 bingo positions, a 155-room upmarket hotel, a 1,800-capacity conference facility, which will be Chile’s largest and a retail mall.
