A mega-casino resort will be built in Cyprus.

A consortium led by Melco International has been granted a licence to build the resort with a minimum of 1,000 slots, 100 table games and 500 hotel rooms. The Hong-Kong based Melco is joined in the project by Hard Rock International and Cyprus Phasouri.
The 30-year licence also gives the right to build a satellite casino and three slot parlours on the island and there will be a 15-year casino monopoly.
The site chosen is in Limassol in the Greek sector of the island. Phasouri already operates a water park in the town. Work is expected to begin in the next few months.
