The move to ban gambling sponsorships and advertising in football in England has been knocked back by the House of Lords.

The proposals are part of the Football Governance Bill and came before the house on Monday of this week.
The house voted against an amendment that sought to ban gambling sponsorships on the grounds that English football "must not promote or engage in advertising or sponsortship related to gambling."
It was proposed by Liberal Democrat Lord Addington.
The amendment proposed that the incoming Independent Football Regulator should grtadually eliminate advertising and sponsorship related to gambling once the regulator is in place.
