Over 50 gaming machines that were operating illegally in a city in Bolivia have been seized.

The country’s gambling regulator, the Gaming Control Authority (AJ), found 56 machines at a premises in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The property had a “sophisticated” security system including CCTV.

“The owners of these sites recruit players through WhatsApp groups and they use security cameras to warn of our presence and avoid intervention,” said the regional director of the AJ, Cristian Alvarado.

“However, with the support of the Bolivian Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office, we achieved the intervention.”

The AJ had previously seized 226 illegal pieces of gaming hardware in 42 operations in the capital of Santa Cruz.
