Currently, there are three casinos in Hungary, two in capital Budapest and the other in Sopron, which is near the border with Austria. Two of the four new venues will be in Budapest and the others will be in Debrecen and Nyiregyhaza. A fifth casino is planned to start operating in 2015 in Budapest.
The law regulating casinos permits the operation of maximum of 11 casinos in Hungary - five in Budapest, three in the western part of Hungary and another three in the east.
The casino owners in Sopron have two of the concessions for the west of the country at present. The third in the west is held by Eurovegas Hungary, which has not yet started operating.
