The Filipino government will renew the monopoly on casino operating in the country to the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) the government-owned company.
There had been some speculation that the ending of the monopoly would see the opening up of the Philippines to operators from other countries. But the House of Representatives has approved the renewal of the licence and that approval is now with the Senate.
As the Senate is now controlled by the administration, there is little doubt that it will pass.
