A new anti-AGC initiative among local authorities in the UK is being led by Brent Council in London, reports trade association Bacta.

The campaign seeks to gain new powers to refuse permission to gambling venues with a revision of the Aim to Permit principle in the 2005 Gambling Act.

The association notes that many of the arguments being made are erroneous or out of date; some even mention family entertainment centres while others are "simply baseless accusations."

Following a letter to the Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, from Brent Council, Bacta president John Bollom has written to the minister to "set the record straight and cut through the aggressive misinformation" that is being spread by the industry’s opponents.
