Legalising casinos in Brazil could be one of the issues discussed between US President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro when they meet this week, Brazilian outlet O Globo reported.

Trump has reportedly talked casinos with world leaders before, with ProPublica saying he spoke with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about strongly considering Las Vegas Sands for a casino licence.

LVS CEO Sheldon Adelson, one of the biggest Republican financial contributors, is interested in casinos in Brazil. He has reportedly proposed a casino in Rio di Janeiro and another in the financial district of São Paulo, O Dia reported. The Rio casino could reportedly have a budget of $10bn, the city’s mayor said.

Adelson suggested a casino in Rio could help double tourism. Elsewhere, Hard Rock International indicated interest in investing in Brazil while meeting with representatives from the state of Santa Catarina, Games Magazine Brazil reported.
