US operator Ameristar Casinos is to press on with plans to build a new casino resort in Louisiana following the acquisition of the equity assets of Creative Casinos of Louisiana.
Having completed the transaction – worth $32.5m – the company now expects to begin construction on its Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Lake Charles project on July 20. It is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2014.
The property is intended to target visitors from both Louisiana and Texas.
“We’re excited about the growth this opportunity will bring to our company and for the thousands of construction and permanent jobs we will create in Lake Charles,” said Gordon Kanofsky, CEO. “In just two years, Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Lake Charles will begin serving south-western Louisiana and south-eastern Texas, including the Houston metropolitan area.”
The casino will feature around 1,600 slot machines and 60 table games, along with a 700-room hotel and an 18-hole golf course.
