Garlan Gudger, the Alabama Senate president pro tem, has declared that the proposed gambling legislation will not pass this legislative session.

He claimed that the bill, which would allow Alabamans to vote on a statewide lottery and expanded gambling, has too few votes to pass.

“With 12 meeting days remaining in the session, both budgets still awaiting approval, and other important bills and measures demanding focus and attention, the comprehensive gaming bill released today is simply too little, too late, and has too few votes to pass,” said Gudger in a statement released by his office, as reported in the Associated Press.
