ARGUABLY roulette is the quintessential casino game. It is simple, easy to grasp, relies almost entirely on chance and (literally) revolves around a piece of equipment which is absolutely iconic: the roulette wheel.
Stylish and beautiful when expertly crafted, the live table roulette wheel is also a finely tuned piece of machinery that requires absolute precision to remain functional. As Nicci Smith, managing director UK/Europe at TCS John Huxley pointed out: “The average roulette wheel spins the equivalent of 900 miles a month in a casino. Just like a car, that kind of mileage needs maintenance. The question is - who spots that need first: the operator or the player? Whether you’re looking at sections or dead pockets, if it’s the player that finds out the wheel has an issue, it could be very costly indeed!
