ON January 1, 2011, an updated gaming bill came into force in Belgium. The main reason for this was to specifically cover online gaming.

Belgian gaming law has a closed licensing system, which offers three distinct types of operating permits. Casino operators require an A licence and these are limited to nine, while there are 180 B arcade licences and 34 F1 licences for betting operators.
