In the as yet unregulated Swiss market, internet service providers appear reluctant to introduce any blocks, suggesting that the casino sector would have to pay for any such measures.

Legislation that will enable Swiss casinos to offer online real-money gaming is not expected to come into force for another two years. In the meantime, the Swiss casino sector continues to struggle.

In December, ICT Switzerland, which represents a group of Swiss ISPs, said similar IP-blocking schemes used in other countries are “practically useless”.
