Betfair Group plc has acquired “certain assets, including the customer database,” of online bookmaker Blue Square Bet from the Rank Group for £5m.
From today, April 2, all visitors to the Blue Square website, www.bluesq.com, are greeted with the news that “Blue Square is now a part of Betfair” and then redirected to www.Betfair.com, where they can continue to bet and take advantage of a promotional welcome offer.
A statement from Betfair continued: "The acquisition is consistent with Betfair's strategy of focusing on regulated markets and growing its sportsbook and gaming operations alongside the exchange."
