US state New Jersey inched nearer to legalising i-gaming after the Garden State’s House of Assembly approved the progress of an online gambling bill which would permit internet casino games.

The amendments to bill A2578 widen the scope beyond intrastate poker, provided the servers are located on the premises of licensed land casinos in Atlantic City.

The bill, sponsored by state Senator Ray Lesniak (pictured), will be put to a vote by the full Assembly on December 17, with a state senate vote possible as soon as December 20.

Last year, Governor Chris Christie vetoed a bill which would have made the state of New Jersey the first to legalise online gaming but expectations are that the Garden State will follow Delaware and Nevada in approving i-gaming in one form or another.
