Facebook has opened its doors to real-money gaming with the launch of a new Jackpotjoy application by Gamesys.
Bingo & Slots Friendzy, which launched yesterday on Facebook, means that users aged 18 and over in the UK will be able to play games for real cash prizes and win cash jackpots for the first time on the social networking platform.
The Friendzy App comprises a series of 90 ball bingo and slots games with features including community progressive jackpots, bonus games and rewards for inviting friends.
"We are committed to extending our products to a wider adult audience, so we've reinvented our exclusive bingo and slots games to appeal to the UK Facebook community,” said Jackpotjoy managing director Michael Saunders. “This marks an exciting turning point for the industry and a milestone for the Gamesys business."
A revenue sharing agreement between Facebook and Gamesys is in place according to Reuters. The social network platform takes a 30 per cent share of revenue for transactions on non-gambling games on its service.
