Gross gaming revenue generated by Macau's casinos jumped nearly 58 per cent in 2010, figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reveal.

In December, the Chinese enclave’s casinos reported a 66 per cent rise in revenue to 18.9bn patacas ($2.36bn), up from 11.3bn patacas in same month last year.

Overall, revenues reached 188.3bn patacas in 2010, 57.8 per cent higher than the 119.4bn patacas recorded in 2009.

A recent report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers predicted that Macau’s gaming market will grow to more than three times the size of the Nevada market by 2014. Having overtaken the US state in 2008, the enclave’s gaming market is predicted to grow from $15bn in 2009 to $45.1bn within three years.
