Regulating online gaming is a key issue for JAKTA, the Serbian association of gaming operators, authorised technicians and producers of slot machines.

The Serbian government is currently discussing changes to the country’s existing gaming laws, with online gaming likely to be high on the agenda.

Mirjana Acimovic, president of JAKTA, said the organisation’s members aim to move Serbia’s gaming industry closer to global standards by introducing modern technology and infrastructure.

"We plan to implement best-practice examples from well-regulated gaming markets and try to avoid mistakes made in others," she told iNTERGAMINGi. "Regulating online gaming, creating a modern gaming laboratory, defining minimum technical requirements and enforcing responsible gaming and better oversight - these are all key issues we are constantly working on.

"The Serbian gaming market will continue to adopt new solutions for the advancement of the industry."
