The best possible news for American touchscreen games producer AMI Entertainment is that Spain has rated internet devices as no longer subject to licensing.

That led to the company exhibiting no fewer than 20 of its Megatouch machines at the FER show in Madrid.

Head of international sales Javier Lanfranchi told InterGame: "Because it connects to the internet no taxes have to be paid on the siting of the games or their income. The possibilities for the distribution of the games in bars are therefore much stronger."

He added: "The income remains good and Spanish operators know how to run these games and our customers have started an aggressive campaign to get Megatouch devices out across the market. Obviously it can now go anywhere within the 17 Spanish jurisdictions.

"There are some places where you cannot use the erotic software, but there are still plenty of choices in content and we have four different versions of the software for the Spanish market." Ami has around 150 games in its inventory in total and tournaments have been initiated in some areas.
