The British Columbia Lottery Corporation has announced that PlayNow.com, which closed on the same day it launched in mid-July, has undergone a website redesign and is now back up and running.

The site, which closed after a serious security breach was uncovered, has re-launched with improvements including streamlining the registration process, simplifying the site architecture and updating the site’s look and feel.

The site was initially supposed to reopen after a few days, but officials at BCLC made the announcement just last Thursday that the site was finally open again after a revamp.

British Columbia’s information and privacy commissioner, Elizabeth Denham, who issued an independent investigation, is reported to have said she is now satisfied that users’ privacy is fully protected.

It is also reported that PlayNow.com’s prolonged closure saw the BCLC lose approximately US$150,000 a day in revenue.
