Kindred, an online gambling company, and Lucky VR, a start-up software developer, will today host a live virtual reality poker game at the Unibet Open Copenhagen.
Nine of the world’s top eSports and Twitch stars will play around a virtual table, using the immersive app created for the Oculus Rift. Fans can watch world-class gamers and eSports heavyweights including German Twitch star Alan “Hotted89” Widmann and Thijs Molendijk step into the world of VR via a live Twitch stream.
Will Mace, head of Kindred Futures, said: “There’s still some time to go before VR becomes a mainstream technology or even revenue generating, but VR has the potential to change the way almost all media is consumed.
“Now is the time to start learning and experimenting in order to deliver the very best playing experience in the future. We are looking forward to hearing feedback from the world’s top eSports players following the trial.”
