Late last week, lawmakers in the US state of Pennsylvania approved bill 1887, in the process amending the draft legislation – which was predominantly aimed at fixing a tax anomaly - to include online casinos.

Pennsylvania i-gaming hope

The state estimates that online gambling could generate revenue of around $300m for the casino industry, a 10 per cent increase on the existing gambling market.

It is still not clear if the state senate will approve the legislation, even though it needs to urgently address the tax issue.

The hope is that, in pushing through the tax fix, Pennsylvania will also rubber stamp the online gaming proposals and the state will become the fourth - and the most populous - state to regulate real-money i-gaming.
