A state house committee in Pennsylvania has advanced a bill that would regulate real-money online gaming in the US state and also amend other aspects of state gaming law.

Republican John Payne, chairman of the House Gaming Oversight Committee, said the bill is not specifically about “authorising” online gaming.

“Internet gaming is already occurring,” he explained. “We’re not authorising it, we are going to regulate it. I want to protect the children and the compulsive gamer.”

The wide-ranging bill also authorises the state’s racinos to put slot machines in off-track betting locations and for slots gaming at six airports in the state.
