The US state of New York is to hold a hearing on the topic of online gaming on Wednesday, September 9.

Senator John Bonacic (R)

The legislation, proposed in May and sponsored by Republican senator John Bonacic (pictured), has no prospect of being passed this year but the hearing gives backers hope for introduction in 2016.

Bonacic’s bill calls for a cap of 10 online poker operators in New York state, with operators taxed at a rate of 15 per cent.
