Against a background of an improved second quarter’s results, Amaya Inc released news that it had acquired Victiv, a Texas, US, company which specialises in daily fantasy sports.

The Victiv system gives players the chance to build a roster of their favourite sports stars and compete for the opportunity to win real money. Victiv will be rebranded StarsDraft and will be launched in select US markets and later through the PokerStars platform.

Revenues grew 10 per cent to C$320m in the second quarter of the year from C$289m. Its core poker business grew 11 per cent and the online casino contributed around 11 per cent of revenues.

EBITDA after adjustments grew 24 per cent to C$138m or 43 per cent of revenues. The company reported that it has 1.9m customer registrations during the quarter bringing the overall total to 95m; around 5.7m are active.  It said that the number of customers who played with real money online during the quarter was 2.3m of which around 95 per cent played on PokerStars.
