More than 30,000 people have been arrested in China's southern Guangdong province during a two-month crackdown on illegal online activities including real-money i-gaming, reports the Bangkok-based The Nation.

In a wide-ranging series of operations, Chinese police have arrested more than 3,000 and more than 5,000 others were reportedly “under criminal detention”.

An online gambling ring in Huizhou City worth around CNY30m (£3m) was busted by police on November 24, reported Chinese news agency Xinhua.
