Northern Bear, an online casino serving Canada’s Saskatchewan province through the GEObet Gambling Network, has shut down, reports CBC News.
After two years, Northern Bear Casino has suspended operations indefinitely “for economic reasons,” said CEO Bernie Shepherd.
Despite the failure, Shepherd maintained the venture was an example of what can be achieved when First Nations people exercise their inherent and constitutional rights.
Shepherd is a former chief of the White Bear First Nation and also played a key role in the establishment of First Nations-run casinos in Saskatchewan.
