UEFA, European football’s governing body, has signed a four-year extension to its agreement with Sportradar.

The deal means Sportradar’s Security Services will continue to provide UEFA with betting movement information from more than 30,000 matches across Europe each season until 2019.

Sportradar has been monitoring betting movements on European football matches since 2006 and the renewal means the sports data specialist will use the market-leading UEFA Betting Fraud Detection System to monitor the top two professional football leagues and domestic cup competitions in each of UEFA’s 54 member associations.

“For UEFA, the fight against match fixing is a top priority because an attempt to fix a football match strikes right at the soul of our sport,” said UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino.

“We are aware via the UEFA BFDS that 0.7 per cent of the 30,000-plus matches monitored annually present some suspicion, but even one match is one too many.”

Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl added: “[The] renewal is a real statement of intent from UEFA and we are proud that they continue to see us as a powerful deterrent to those who would manipulate football results.”
