Nearly a third of Betfair shareholders have voted against pay and bonus deals for chief executive Breon Corcoran, reports The Guardian.

Corporate governance group Pirc had already criticised pay arrangements that could mean Corcoran (pictured) is entitled to a bonus of up to 380 per cent of his salary.

Accordng to the Betfair annual report, Corcoran’s pay for 2014 will total £1.28m, down from £3.7m the previous year when he joined the business and when his salary was boosted by a “golden hello” payment.

Of the votes cast, 32 per cent were against Betfair's remuneration report. In 2013, just 4.6 per cent of shareholders voted against the pay report.
